How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

So how can we stick to our New Year’s Resolutions?

Step One is not to worry! To make achieving your 2019 goals easier, the American Psychological Association (APA) has provided the following useful tips:

  • Keep it simple.  After having a cheat month in December, it can be tempting to compile a huge list of changes you want to make to your lifestyle, but habits are hard to break and having too many resolutions can be overwhelming.  Focusing your attention on just one goal is more likely to lead to success than trying to juggle multiple lifestyle changes at once.
  • Try something new for the New Year.  Attitude is important when it comes to maintaining your resolutions. Reattempting 2018’s diet and exercise plan will probably to lead to the same disappointment as before, whereas having a new New Year’s resolution will motivate you to stick to your targets.
  • Your resolution should be important to you.  Gyms already gain enough members in January, so don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd!  The APA advises that you’re more likely to stick to a resolution that really resonates with you, so go with one that is important to you and not to other people.
  • Don’t be too hard on yourself.  New Year’s resolutions are always difficult to keep because, unlike other promises, they can be an lifestyle change.  The good thing about that is that resolutions, unlike promises, can be un-broken.  If you get back on track your 2019 targets could still be in sight.

Our New Year’s Resolution Suggestion: Have a Hair Makeover at Michelle Marshall Hair Salon in Cardiff

If going to the gym is getting you down, maybe you could consider a New Year’s resolution that’s easier to achieve: a hair makeover.

The confidence that comes from revitalising your hair style, colour or length will have a knock-on effect in other areas of your life.  It could even give you the extra motivation you need to apply for that new job or promotion, get out and meet new people or even go to the gym.  At Michelle Marshall we believe that the right hairstyle has more power to change your life for the better than the promises you make to yourself at the start of the year.

Our expert stylists and colour technicians have the experience to understand the styles that would suit you best.  At your appointment, they’ll consider a range of factors including your hair type, face shape, eye colour, skin tone, fashion sense and lifestyle to help you achieve the best look for you for 2019.  Tell your stylist the hairstyle you’re looking for and they’ll give you useful advice as to how this look can be achieved and maintained.
